History is everywhere, and it can only be protected by people!

We need to encourage the next generation to be involved so that things from the past are not lost forever.

Local Witches

As we are approaching Halloween, lets explore a subject that has become linked with this time of the year.

England was extremely superstitious and people suspected of witchcraft were shown no mercy, often being shunned, tortured and even executed.

Can you identify any local people who were victims of witch trials?

Where they part of the witchfinder generals activities or before/after his time?

Lets see what you can find out

Matthew Hopkins

Matthew Hopkins.  An infamous name of the Witch Finder General.

What can you find out about him?

Did he actively work in your area?

If not, how do you think his activities influenced where you lived?

What are your views on him in the context of his time period.

The Lantern Men
